What to expect
Open Water Day
Here's how a guided St. Lawrence River fishing charter actually goes. Capt. Mike launches closest to where the fish are holding, decreasing run time, and increasing fishing time. Capt. Mike will give you your launch location the day before your trip. The Fenntastic 5 is already gassed, rigged, and loaded with rods, reels, tackle, and live bait, so there's nothing for you to bring but layers, sunglasses, snacks, and a New York fishing license if you're 16 or older.
Once you're aboard, Capt. Mike runs you out to where the fish are holding that day — walleye stacked in the deep channels, smallmouth on the structure, pike in the weed lines, or muskie if you've booked the hunt. Using his vast knowledge of the St. Lawrence River and Garmin electronics, he'll put you right on the fish and give you a real shot at the big one.
Capt. Mike sets you up with the right rod and rig, shows you the technique that's working and stays on the trolling motor or at the helm adjusting position to keep you active on the fish. Capt. Mike welcomes everyone aboard for an unforgettable day on the water. He proudly welcomes anglers of all experience levels, including first-timers, disabled veterans, children, families, and seasoned fishermen.
When the trip winds down, your catch comes back to the dock cleaned and filleted, ready for the pan. Want to make a day of it? Add a shore lunch and Capt. Mike will fry your fresh fillets riverside with hand-cut fries — he cooked professionally before he ran charters, and it shows. Our base trips are four hours with the ability to add additional hours both on the water or while booking. You leave with memories made, a camera full of photos, and the kind of day on the St. Lawrence that makes people book again before they're off the dock.

What to expect
Hardwater Day
Here's what to expect for a day on the hardwater of the St. Lawrence River with Capt. Mike. You, your group, and any other groups booked that day get transported out to the spot Capt. Mike has chosen — more often than not a coveted private location with limited access. He fishes public spots as well, but that's usually early in the season.
Once you're out there, he and his crew get you set up in a heated shack with chairs, fresh bait, electronics, jig poles, and walk you through the techniques associated with the different baits. While you and your crew settle in and start jigging, Capt. Mike heads out to set the spread — a mix of Jaw Jackers, Automatic Fishermen, dead sticks, tip downs, and his custom tip-ups for walleye and pike, rigged with hand-tied harnesses from Fenntails Tackle.
A lot of folks tag along while he sets the tip-ups, picking up his techniques and the little nuances that separate a slow day from a great one. Capt. Mike loves sharing what he knows — so don't be afraid to ask questions. Once the spread is set, everyone settles into jigging and watching for flags. Chasing flags and pulling fish up hand over hand is the best part — kids love it, and it brings the little kid out in the adults too. If there are several groups on the ice, Capt. Mike makes the rounds all day, checking on everyone and keeping things squared away.
When the trip wraps, the whole group breaks down the spread, packs up, and heads off the ice together — riding out on the Argo and Ranger when conditions allow. When the ice isn't machine-worthy, be ready to walk. And about that ice: Capt. Mike spent eight years in the U.S. Coast Guard teaching and conducting ice rescue. Safety always comes first, and his read on the ice is as good as it gets in these parts.

Half Day on the Ice

Enjoy the ride in the Argo out to the location when conditions allow for it. The Argo allows us to go anywhere, spots nobody else reaches. Fish from a heated shelter with the latest in electronics and gear.
Full Day on the Ice
$300/Person Per Day
Fish the first light bite followed by a potential midday move (depending on the bite and conditions) finished with the evening twilight bite. A serious SLR hardwater day for sure.
Full Day + Lodge Overnight
$375/Person Per Day
A full day of fishing, followed up by a relaxing, enjoyable evening in our cozy Waddington Lodge. If you're booked for the following morning, be the first on the ice.

This trip is for those that have all their own equipment, machines, poles, tackle, shanties, bait, heat, etc.
Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner — Available at Market Price.
*Tag Along Note — The meeting start time will be around 5:30 A.M. and you can leave when you wish, since you will have your own transportation, or stay with us and ride back all together. Your machines MUST BE in great running order. The St. Lawrence River isn’t the place to find out your machine won’t start or operate properly, when ice conditions warrant machines. Public access trip only. No exceptions

What should I expect after I book?
After you book, Captain Mike will reach out to you and provide all details about the trip including; what to wear, where to meet, what time to meet, and explain briefly what you can expect out of your trip.
What happens if I get seasick?
The St. Lawrence River does not usually get extremely rough, but some people may experience motion sickness or sea sickness. Seasickness can be an unpleasant experience out on the water. If you or your family feel that you may get sea sick, we recommend to take medication such as Dramamine before the trip.
Are there lifejackets and safety equipment?
Yes, all our boats are equipped with life jackets, fire extinguishers, first aid kit and all other required safety equipment.
How much should I tip the Captain/Crew?
A tip is not expected, but greatly appreciated! The captain and crew split any tips. They spend countless hours before and after your fishing day prepping the boat and taking care of your catch, all to make sure you have a outstanding day out on the water. A standard tip in the industry is 15-20%.
